Flux Core Structural Welder
Work Setting
Shop Position - Athens, GA
Job Summary
RAI is seeking full-time, experienced Flux Core Structural Welders for our Athens location.
Essential Functions
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including wearing all proper PPE
  • Operate a welding machine to join parts together, utilizing proper techniques for different joint types, positions, and thicknesses
  • Clean, grind, and prepare metal to ensure proper weld penetration
  • Accurately interpret drawings and prints to understand the required weld specifications, joint types, and positioning of components
  • Measure and cut using power tools, plasma cutters, and oxy-fuel torches
  • Visually inspect welds for defects like porosity, slag inclusions, and undercut
  • Regularly clean and maintain welding equipment, including the wire feeder and power supply
  • Must be able to pass a 3G weld test on 1" carbon plate with a backer bar

Education and Experience
  • 3 - 5 years' experience preferred
  • Ability to pass an AWS weld test required
  • Flux core welding experience required
  • MIG and TIG experience preferred
  • Stainless steel and aluminum experience a plus

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Day Shift Schedule: Typically 6am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays required. Overtime hours available
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely maneuver around various construction equipment and vehicles on an active construction site
  • Regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
  • Ability to climb temporary or permanent stairs and ladders
  • Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, stoop, and reach regularly
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
