The job requires knowledge of building structures, ventilation techniques, and safety protocols. Proper mitigation can significantly reduce health risks associated with radon exposure, such as lung cancer.

What does a radon mitigation professional do?

A typical day for a Radon Mitigation professional involves traveling to residential or commercial sites to assess radon levels, developing a mitigation plan, and installing or servicing mitigation systems such as sub-slab depressurization units. You may work independently or as part of a small team, interacting directly with property owners to explain test results and system operations. Daily tasks also include monitoring system performance, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with local and federal safety standards. This hands-on role often provides a mix of indoor and outdoor work in a variety of settings, and can offer opportunities for advancement into supervisory or inspection positions as you gain experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for radon mitigation?

To excel in Radon Mitigation, you need a solid understanding of environmental science, construction, and HVAC systems, often supported by relevant training or certification like NRPP or NRSB accreditation. Familiarity with radon detection equipment, mitigation system installation tools, and adherence to EPA guidelines is essential in this field. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication with clients are highly valued soft skills. These competencies ensure that mitigation systems are safely and efficiently installed, protecting clients’ health while meeting regulatory standards.

How to become a radon mitigation specialist?

To become a radon mitigation specialist, individuals typically complete training programs that cover radon testing and mitigation techniques, and obtain relevant certifications such as those from the National Radon Proficiency Program or the Environmental Protection Agency. Project Specialist – Radon System Installer
Full-time | No weekends or holidays
**MINIMUM 2 YEARS CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
────────────────────────────────────────
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
────────────────────────────────────────
$75,000–$100,000 first-year total compensation
Base salary plus performance bonuses | Monday–Friday | Licensed and certified by day 30
The $75K–$100K range reflects actual installer output at our production volume. Base salary is fixed. Performance bonuses are tied to jobs completed. We cover 100% of licensing and exam costs.
────────────────────────────────────────
WHAT YOU'LL DO
────────────────────────────────────────
Install radon mitigation systems in residential homes following a documented process. Each day starts with reviewing job specs, pulling materials, and loading your truck. You run your jobs independently, collect payment on-site, close out the job in the system same day, and leave every site cleaner than you found it.
You'll also handle service calls on existing systems and complete post-install steps at every job: customer check-in, yard sign, and door hangers before you leave.
────────────────────────────────────────
WHO DOES WELL HERE
────────────────────────────────────────
- Reads the job spec before arriving — every time
- Holds their own quality standard, not just the minimum
- Closes paperwork the same day, without being reminded
- Works independently without needing check-ins
- Follows a proven system and improves it when they see a better way
- Takes the work seriously — not as a job, as a craft
────────────────────────────────────────
LICENSING
────────────────────────────────────────
Most states require a credential to install radon mitigation systems for compensation. If you're not already licensed, we get you through it within 30 days — course, exam prep, and all fees covered by us.
Backgrounds that translate well: electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, general contractors, handymen. If you're good with your hands and have a track record of doing things right, the technical piece is trainable.
────────────────────────────────────────
BENEFITS
────────────────────────────────────────
- 50% company-paid health insurance
- Vision, dental, life, and disability coverage
- Critical illness coverage
- Retirement plan with company match
- HSA with company match
- Accrued PTO
- No weekends or holidays
