Vice President, Credit Solutions & Loss Mitigation

Angott Search Group is pleased to partner with a $2.5B credit union in the search for a Vice President, Credit Solutions & Loss Mitigation.

This executive leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced credit union or financial services leader with expertise in collections, loss mitigation, fraud prevention, and credit risk management. The Vice President will lead the strategy and execution of loss prevention and collection operations while driving initiatives that reduce risk, improve performance, and support the organization's long-term financial health.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategies for loss prevention, collections, fraud mitigation, and recovery operations.
  • Lead Loss Prevention functions including fraud prevention, investigations, Reg E disputes, bankruptcy, collateral protection, and asset recovery.
  • Oversee Collection Operations, including delinquency management, repossessions, charge-offs, and legal recovery actions.
  • Analyze loss trends, identify risk factors, and recommend strategies to reduce credit losses.
  • Forecast delinquency, charge-offs, and loss trends while supporting financial planning and allowance calculations.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to provide expertise on collections, fraud, and credit risk.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors including collection agencies, recovery providers, legal partners, insurance providers, and technology partners.
  • Develop and enhance policies, procedures, and processes related to fraud prevention, credit quality, and loss mitigation.
  • Prepare reporting, presentations, and data analysis for leadership regarding trends, risks, forecasts, and opportunities.
  • Drive process improvements and operational excellence throughout the loss mitigation function.
  • Oversee collateral liquidation, bankruptcy processes, credit reporting disputes, and legal recovery activities.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging fraud trends, recovery strategies, and regulatory developments.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations including BSA, Patriot Act, OFAC, and other financial services requirements.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Loss Mitigation team while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in collections, loss mitigation, fraud prevention, credit risk, or related financial services functions.
  • Leadership experience managing teams and complex operational functions.
  • Strong understanding of consumer lending, delinquency management, collections strategies, and recovery processes.
  • Experience with fraud investigations, Reg E disputes, bankruptcy, and asset recovery preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret trends, develop strategies, and communicate recommendations.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party partnerships.
  • Knowledge of credit union regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
