What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Radon Testing position, and why are they important?

To excel in radon testing, professionals typically need knowledge of environmental science, basic building construction, and health and safety regulations, often supported by industry-specific certification such as NRPP or NRSB. Familiarity with radon detection equipment, data loggers, and specialized software for recording and interpreting test results is essential. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently are valuable soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure accurate testing, clear client communication, and adherence to safety standards, all critical for protecting public health.

What does a typical day look like for a radon testing professional?

A typical day for a radon testing professional may involve traveling to client sites, deploying and retrieving radon detection devices, conducting visual inspections of buildings, and maintaining meticulous records of testing procedures. You may work independently or as part of a small team, and communicating findings to clients—sometimes alongside mitigation recommendations—is a common responsibility. The role requires flexibility to handle variable schedules, attention to safety protocols, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple appointments. This hands-on work environment provides a mix of field visits, data analysis, and client interaction, making each day dynamic and varied.

What is a Radon Testing job?

A Radon Testing job involves measuring levels of radon gas in homes, workplaces, and other buildings to ensure safe indoor air quality. Radon is a radioactive gas that can seep into buildings from the ground and pose health risks, including lung cancer. Professionals use specialized equipment to detect radon levels and may recommend mitigation solutions if levels are too high. This job requires knowledge of testing procedures, safety guidelines, and sometimes certification depending on state regulations. Radon testers may work independently, for environmental agencies, or within home inspection services.

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE
Launchpad Home Group is the largest home inspection company in the country, with 20+ brands operating across the Southeast, Northeast, and Southwest. As we continue to grow our ancillary services, we're building out a dedicated sales function to support radon testing and mitigation across all of our brands.
This is a brand new role - and a big opportunity. You'll be the first dedicated radon sales rep supporting our national footprint, working primarily through inbound leads generated by our client care team during home inspection scheduling calls. When a client care rep identifies a property that's a strong candidate for radon testing or mitigation, they warm-hand that lead to you. Your job is to close it.
This is a remote, inside sales role. You won't be knocking on doors or driving to job sites. You'll be working the phone, building relationships with our internal teams, and becoming the go-to expert on radon mitigation sales across all of our markets.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
  • Work warm leads passed from our client care team - real estate agents and homeowners who have already shown interest in radon services during a scheduling call.
  • Make outbound follow-up calls and conduct consultative conversations to educate clients on radon risk, testing, and mitigation options.
  • Close mitigation sales by building trust quickly, explaining the value clearly, and guiding the client through next steps.
  • Partner closely with client care supervisors and the Director of Client Care to refine the warm handoff process and make sure leads are qualified and timed well.
  • Track your pipeline, activity, and closed deals in HubSpot CRM - keeping everything clean and up to date.
  • Collaborate with brand-level teams across our Southwest (AZ, CO, TX), Southeast, and Northeast regions to understand local market dynamics and radon risk profiles.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on objections, conversion patterns, and opportunities to improve the lead flow process.
  • Stay sharp on EPA guidelines, state-specific radon regulations, and mitigation best practices.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 2+ years of inside sales experience - phone-based, consultative selling is what this role is built on.
  • A track record of closing warm leads and moving quickly through a sales cycle without being pushy.
  • Strong communication skills - you can explain a technical concept like radon mitigation clearly and confidently to someone who has never heard of it.
  • Comfort working independently and remotely - you manage your own time, stay organized, and don't need someone looking over your shoulder.
  • Experience with CRM tools, ideally HubSpot - you use it to stay organized, not just to satisfy a manager.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn - radon experience is a plus, but not required. We'll teach you the product. You bring the sales instincts.
  • A collaborative mindset - this role works hand in hand with client care, so playing well with others is non-negotiable.

NICE TO HAVE
  • Background in home services, home inspection, real estate, or environmental services.
  • Familiarity with radon testing, mitigation systems, or EPA measurement guidelines.
  • Experience selling to or working with real estate agents.
  • Knowledge of regional radon risk zones. Especially in Colorado and other high-risk markets.

WHY JOIN LAUNCHPAD
  • Competitive base salary plus commission.
  • Full benefits package.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • A remote-first role with a supportive, high-growth team behind you.
  • The chance to build something from the ground up. This is a new function, and you'll have real influence on how it grows.
