Job description

WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE

Conklin Metal Industries | Nashville Branch 1150 Antioch Pike, Suite 250, Nashville, TN 37211 | Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE WAREHOUSE JOB

If you take pride in doing things right, know your way around a forklift, and want to work somewhere that will actually invest in your future, keep reading.

Conklin Metal Industries has been in business since 1874 and is still family owned and operated. We distribute sheet metal, HVAC, and duct fabrication supplies out of 17 warehouses across the Southeast, and our Nashville branch is looking to add a Warehouse Associate who is ready to show up, work hard, and grow with us.

We mean that last part. Warehouse Associates at Conklin have gone on to become Shipping Leads, Receiving Leads, Warehouse Managers, Inside Sales Representatives, Branch Managers, and Operations Managers. If you want a path, we have one. But it starts on the warehouse floor, and it starts with doing the basics exceptionally well.

LOCATION AND COMMUTE

We are located at 1150 Antioch Pike, Suite 250, Nashville, TN 37211, in the Antioch area off I-24 on the south side of Nashville. If you are commuting from Antioch, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Brentwood, or the surrounding south Nashville corridors, you are in great shape. Our 7:00 AM start time is designed to get you in and out ahead of the worst of Nashville traffic. We want your commute working for you, not against you.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Your day will move fast and no two days are exactly the same. You'll be responsible for keeping our operation running smoothly from the time product comes in the door to the moment it leaves on a truck.

  • Receive and verify incoming shipments against invoices, inspecting for accuracy and product condition
  • Properly pull, stage, pack, and load outgoing deliveries and branch transfers without damaging product
  • Load and secure trucks in compliance with DOT and Conklin standards
  • Organize and maintain stock on shelving, bins, and overhangs according to company standards
  • Monitor inventory and report discrepancies to management
  • Operate a forklift safely as a regular part of your daily workflow
  • Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe at all times
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The candidates who thrive here tend to share a few things in common. They're detail-oriented and take quality seriously. They can work independently without needing to be watched but also know how to be a reliable part of a team. They move with a sense of urgency, take ownership of their work, and don't leave things half done.

You're probably a strong fit if you:

  • Have hands-on forklift experience and can operate one confidently and safely every day
  • Have at least two years of warehouse experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Pay close attention to detail, especially when it comes to accuracy in shipping and receiving
  • Have inventory control experience (a plus, not required)
  • Take safety seriously and follow protocols without being told twice
  • Can lift 50 pounds or more and sustain a high level of physical activity throughout your shift
  • Are comfortable working in variable temperatures and occasionally adjusting your schedule based on workload
  • Are dependable, coachable, and looking for a company you can actually build something with

Forklift certification is preferred. A strong work ethic is required.

All offers are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Overtime available based on workload
  • Weekly pay via direct deposit

BENEFITS

Benefits are available on the first of the month following 60 days of employment and include:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) options
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Paid Time Off
  • 10 Company-Paid Holidays
  • Referral Program

OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS

We keep it straightforward and respect your time. Here's what to expect:

  1. A brief phone interview to get to know you and answer any questions you have about the role
  2. A five-minute online behavioral assessment through the Predictive Index so we can better understand how you work and what environment brings out your best
  3. An on-site interview at our Nashville branch with the Branch Manager

We move quickly for the right candidate.
