Description
At Chattanooga College MDTC, the Program Director, Radiologic Technology will help implement our strategy of “Where a small school can make a BIG difference!!”
The Program Director, Radiologic Technology will provide leadership and overall management to the hybrid Radiologic Technology program, its faculty, and students to support curriculum development, program accreditation, and student career success. This includes responsibilities such as recruiting and evaluating faculty, ensuring JRCERT compliance, managing clinical partnerships, and monitoring student retention and certification pass rates. Ideal candidates must have excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and listening skills. Candidates must be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and manage multiple priorities and changing assignments.
This is a professional/instructional position supporting the Health Science Programs department. This role requires considerable interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external clinical partners through individual meetings, group sessions, and/or events. Program Director, Radiologic Technology is expected to possess extensive knowledge of radiologic technology practices, hybrid learning modalities, and accreditation standards. They must be able to interpret individual needs, provide personalized support, and work effectively with individuals who may be confused, stressed, or demanding.
Employees in this role can expect to support and guide individuals regarding academic plans, clinical progress, and career goals, assist with decision-making related to education, clinical placement, or institutional processes, and help guide individuals toward successful outcomes. This position requires maintaining confidentiality and accurate records to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and federal regulations (e.g., FERPA, as applicable). The role may also support institutional events such as Orientation, Graduation, workshops, or outreach activities. A strong commitment to equity, access, and success for underrepresented or at-risk populations is essential.
Responsibilities
- Provides overall leadership and administration to a diverse population of radiologic technology students and faculty, including regular contact regarding progress and performance.
- Implements institutional or departmental strategic priorities related to curriculum standards, student retention, completion, and JRCERT accreditation compliance.
- Counsels, advises, or supports individuals through individual and group sessions to address academic or professional concerns and provide guidance.
- Educates individuals on institutional resources, radiologic technology policies, clinical procedures, and expectations.
- Implements solutions, including teaching methodologies and educational technology, to promote efficiency, access, and success in the hybrid learning environment.
- Completes required professional development and training annually, and promotes development opportunities for program faculty.
- Supports department-wide and student services initiatives.
- Maintains accurate documentation and records in compliance with institutional, accreditation, and federal requirements.
- Collaborates with departments and healthcare organizations to increase engagement, retention, and clinical placement success, especially for at-risk populations.
- Provides appropriate referrals for personal, social, and/or academic concerns that may impair success.
- Upholds confidentiality and complies with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and federal regulations.
- Assists with planning and coordination of events such as Orientation, Graduation, workshops, or professional industry conferences.
- Maintains tools, systems, or resources necessary to effectively perform job duties.
- Remains current on relevant state and federal guidelines, emerging best practices, regulatory changes, and research related to radiologic technology education.
- Collaborates with the Dean of Health Science Programs.

- Must hold American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and active registration (or equivalent) in radiography.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in radiologic technology; at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role is required.
- A minimum of 2 years teaching in a JRCERT-accredited program is required.
- Experience in program management, and hybrid or online teaching is preferred.
- Demonstrated success with accreditation processes (e.g., JRCERT) is highly desirable.
