Job description

About the job The Quality Engineer supports the product development team under the guidance of the local manager. The Quality Engineer will have responsibilities with development and maintenance of Quality elements as required according to automotive standards and quality management system of the company. They will support APQP program manager to identify risks, and the development of quality documentation to ensure successful launches of new products and Engineering Changes to current products. They will communicate effectively with APQP cross-function and Operation’s team as well as suppliers and customers. They will be responsible for coordinating containment activities for customer and internal quality claims and champion corrective action process. They will be ensuring quality polices and operating procedures are carried out as defined in the quality system. Roles and responsibilities * Lead quality activities from APQP kickoff to Start of Production (SOP) launch. * Participate in APQP activities with cross-functional teams. * Work with the project team members (program manager, Design engineering, validation engineering, process engineering, suppliers) to identify and address potential risks associated to the projects and programs under development. * Responsible for the development and the update w Design-FMEAs and Product-FMEAs. * Review the product drawing and work with the product engineers to align the engineering documents and FMEAs. * Review the supplier portfolio and audit their activity if necessary. * Develop and update Control Plan, Operator Instructions, and other Quality System documentation. * Review the product and process validation plan activity, and support if needed. * Build the PPAP and associated documentations, drive the associated activity, and deliver for the customers. * Support for PCN and notification to customer. * Monitor and manage scorecards of the assigned customers. * Monitor, review and report Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for APQP process. * Manage quality related issues from customers and manufacturing and supplier base. * Coordinate containment activities for customer and internal or supplier quality concerns. * Coordinate with cross-functional team in resolving quality concerns with effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective action. * Interact with internal and external customers with quality directives and customer specific requirements. * Coordinate ordering of Gages and Fixtures as required from APQP kick-off. * Perform product, process and system audit, of the internal and external suppliers’ processes as required. * Assist in monitoring compliance of the plant to IATF 16949 and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR) * Establish plant quality standards, procedures or policies as needed. * Carry out other responsibilities as identified in company policies and procedures. * Visit customers and suppliers as required. * Other related duties as assigned. Education and experience * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related filed. * Five (5) years of experience with copper stamped connectors or related manufacturing process experience in automotive industry  Skills * Knowledge of QMS procedures, IATF, VDA and ISO standards * Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). * Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with cross-functional members within the company and customers. * Knowledge of core tools and problem solving:  APQP core documents, 8D, 5Why, Ishikawa, SPC * Knowledge of reading 2D production drawings * Hands-on technical skills on corrective action activities with cross-functional team *  Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
