ABOUT THE JOB
Anduril is seeking an experienced Radar Software Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to contribute to the development of application-level software for our next-generation radar systems. This role focuses on building the software that powers radar applications-including mission software, data processing pipelines, user-facing tools, and system integration. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in modern software development practices, experience with reproducible build and deployment environments using Nix and NixOS, and a passion for solving complex problems in the radar and sensor domain
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain application-level software for radar systems, with a focus on maintainability, testability, reliability, and performance.
  • Build and enhance radar applications, including data processing workflows, mission-level software, configuration tools, and operator-facing interfaces.
  • Contribute to a scalable software platform with well-defined APIs that enable reusable building blocks adaptable for various radar products and applications.
  • Define and document APIs for component-to-component communication and for integration with external systems and third-party consumers.
  • Develop and maintain reproducible build, packaging, and deployment workflows using Nix to ensure consistency across development, test, and production environments.
  • Lead performance analysis and optimization of radar application software, focusing on efficient data handling and processing throughput.
  • Champion software development best practices, including coding standards, design patterns, version control, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including signal processing engineers, algorithm specialists, systems engineers, and product managers-to translate requirements into well-designed software.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making across the team.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends in radar software, distributed systems, and sensor applications to drive innovation.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Experience: At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Software Development Fundamentals: Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
  • Languages: Proficiency in C++. Python is nice-to-have.
  • Application Development: Proven experience designing and building application-level software, including modular components, services, or data processing pipelines.
  • Nix: Hands-on experience with Nix for reproducible builds, package management, development environments, and/or system configuration.
  • API Development: Experience designing and developing APIs for internal or external consumers.
  • Quality and Security Focus: Demonstrated experience with engineering practices that promote software reliability, maintainability, testability, and security (e.g., unit testing, code reviews, secure coding practices).
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
DESIRED SKILLS
  • Radar or Sensor Domain: Familiarity with radar systems, signal processing concepts, or sensor data applications.
  • Distributed Systems: Experience building software that operates across multiple processes, services, or networked nodes.
  • Data Processing: Experience with data pipelines, streaming frameworks, or high-throughput data processing.
  • Middleware & Messaging: Exposure to messaging frameworks or middleware such as gRPC, Protobuf, ZeroMQ, DDS, or similar.

US Salary Range
$190,000-$252,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
