Job description

Position Summary

We are recruiting for a Systems Engineer at Peterson SFB, in Colorado Springs, CO supporting the Ground-Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program.  The Ground-Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program modernizes the legacy radar systems associated with the five Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWRs) and the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS), which provide continuous surveillance for missile and satellite detection, tracking, and reporting to support Missile Warning, Missile Defense, and Space Domain Awareness missions. This modernization effort replaces outdated analog and hardware-only components with advanced digital, scalable solutions that leverage a government-owned, open-architecture approach.  An additional program goal is to address existing cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the legacy systems by improving cybersecurity capabilities, to include threat detection and data protection.

This is a full-time position located at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications
  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications
  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics.  Prepares management reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles
  • Perform validation of systems, including development of criteria and procedures.  Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, testing and operations oversight.
  • Provide engineering support services and inputs to program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force System Engineering Assessment Model (AF SEAM) processes
  • Provide engineering support to conduct formal trade studies based on engineering performance, effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life cycle cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.
  • Provide technical recommendation support services, including reviews, studies, audits, evaluations and analyses, scientific and procedural guidance, documentation, technical analysis, and support of associated engineering IPTs.
  • Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

Citizenship:Must be a U.S. Citizen 

Clearance:Must have an active TS/SCI and be able to maintain it 

Education:High School Diploma 

Years of Experience:7 years of directly related experience;OR, 

  • BA/BS degree with 3 years of directly related experience 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor's degree 

Years of experience: 3 years of directly related experience

Additional Experience: 

  • DoD Acquisition Program Office experience
  • Experience supportting Missile Warning, Missile Defense and / or Space Domain Awareness or Command and ControlSystems 
  • DoDAF Architectural documentation experience (Highly Preferred)
  • Cloud-based technologies
  • Mission and/or software applications and their uses
  • Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Sparx EA (including ProCloud Server) or Cameo Enterprise Architect
  • Modeling and simulation on Software intensive systems
  • Tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, AFSIM

Hybrid: Telework capabilities for local candidates (percentage of telework allowed will vary based on the customer's discretion)
