Job description

Help create unforgettable hockey moments at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, home of the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

We are looking for a dependable, enthusiastic Part Time Zamboni Driver who enjoys professional hockey, working in front of a crowd, and contributing to the excitement of live events. From preparing the ice before the doors open to resurfacing during intermissions, this position plays an important role in delivering the fast paced, high quality experience Swamp Rabbits players and fans expect.

In this hands on role, you will operate the Zamboni and help maintain professional quality ice conditions for Greenville Swamp Rabbits games, public skating sessions, ice shows, and other Arena events. You will work closely with event operations, officials, players, and fellow team members to keep activities running safely and on schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Operate the Zamboni safely and efficiently to resurface the ice before games, during intermissions, and throughout other ice activities.
  • Prepare and maintain high quality ice conditions that support Greenville Swamp Rabbits practices and games.
  • Inspect and maintain the Zamboni for proper functionality and safety compliance.
  • Monitor ice conditions and temperature, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist with event setup, changeovers, and breakdown, including ice related equipment and materials, as needed.
  • Perform routine ice maintenance, including edging, patching holes, filling low spots, and removing excess snow or water.
  • Maintain accurate logs of ice conditions, resurfacing activities, equipment inspections, and maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate resurfacing activities with event operations, officials, players, performers, and other staff to maintain the event schedule.
  • Remain alert to players, staff, guests, and equipment while operating the Zamboni in public areas and in front of crowds.
  • Provide courteous assistance to guests and represent Bon Secours Wellness Arena and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in a professional and positive manner.
  • Complete required training and maintain any qualifications required to operate ice maintenance equipment.
  • Keep the ice resurfacing area, equipment storage areas, and surrounding workspaces clean and free of hazards.
  • Follow all safety procedures, equipment operating guidelines, and Arena policies while on duty

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and 18 years of age or older
  • Experience operating a Zamboni or similar machinery is preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Basic knowledge of ice maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong attention to detail and capability to work under pressure.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment and materials.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.
