Rabbits are small mammals belonging to the family Leporidae, known for their long ears, soft fur, and strong hind legs. They are herbivores and are commonly found in various regions around the world, both in the wild and as domesticated pets. Job description

Licensed CVT — Tradiional and Exotic Mammal Focused Practice on Madison's East Side

Wisconsin Veterinary Technician License Required

About 30% of our patients are exotic companion mammals. Rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, hedgehogs, rats, and more — not as a novelty, but as core patients. Our medical director, Dr. Carla Christman, DVM, has 30+ years of exotic mammal experience and served four years on the AEMV board of directors. We routinely place IV catheters in rabbits and guinea pigs and intubate most rabbits under anesthesia. We also operate Madison Ferret Rescue.

If you've wondered where you'd actually use your exotic animal training — this is that place.

We've Also Done Something About the Paperwork

We've invested in and built our own AI-assisted tools — including an AI SOAP note generator that converts exam-room conversation into a draft medical record automatically. Less time typing after appointments means more time doing actual medicine. We're an independently owned practice that runs like a technology company when it comes to efficiency: if a workflow is slow or repetitive, we fix it.

The Role

Work autonomously at the top of your license alongside two experienced DVMs. No corporate hierarchy, no impossible quotas — just real medicine in an independently owned East Side practice that's been here for 20+ years.

Monday–Friday; 4-day schedule options available; rare Saturdays

Full-time or part-time considered

Experience-based pay with premium rates for small mammal expertise

Medical, dental, and vision insurance; PTO; paid holidays

Veterinary service discounts for you and your immediate family

What We're Looking For

Current Wisconsin Veterinary Technician License (required — we list this first because we genuinely respect the credential)

Strong technical and surgical skills

Small mammal experience a significant advantage

Comfort with technology and electronic records

Someone who wants to grow and stay
