Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the MEP team, of the Buildings sector, based in the Markham, ON office. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Central Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future.
What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Reports to the Electrical Principal to work independently and manage projects from start to completion.
  • Able to lead the design activities and mentor design staff on all aspects of their work.
  • Attend design meetings and coordinate design with other disciplines.
  • Responsible for meeting engineering quality standards on assigned projects.
  • Oversees development of design concepts and ensures proper application and execution.
  • Reviews designer's work regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
  • Responsible for applying risk management practices to all projects.
  • Leads the design team to produce schematic design, design development, tender and construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
  • Construction management including, but not limited to shop drawing review, progress drawing review, quotation review, prepare CCN/SI, conduct site visits, etc.
  • Writes, studies and reports on electrical system work.


What your experience looks like

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the Electrical consulting field. 
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensed with PEO is preferred.
  • Experienced in Multi-sector - Healthcare, Residential, Institutional, Education, Commercial, and Industrial sectors of electrical consulting is a bonus.
  • Capable to lead & manage new construction, renovation and electrical system upgrade projects.
  • Knowledge in Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code, all applicable CAN-ULC and CSA codes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products and electrical design software.
  • AutoCAD experience required and REVIT MEP proficiency desired.

The hourly range for this role is between $90k - $120k. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
