Job description

The Convenience Store Team Member plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring efficient daily store operations. This position requires a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented individual who can multitask in a fast-paced retail environment. Team members are responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked store while providing prompt and courteous service to all customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Customer Service
  • Greets customers warmly and assists with product selection and inquiries. Responds appropriately to customer issues.
  • Demonstrates and explains merchandise, suggesting options suitable for the customer's needs. Assists customers with purchase decisions.
  • Answers customer's questions about merchandise. Uses suggestive selling techniques to upsell featured items, boost store sales and promote store specials and loyalty programs.

Sales and Cash Handling
  • Accurately operates cash register or point of sale devices. Collects and processes cash, credit and digital payments using the store point of sale system.
  • Handles refunds, exchanges and voids transactions according to company policy.
  • Maintains awareness of loss prevention and theft prevention procedures.
  • Follows all state and federal regulations for gas, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales.

Merchandising and Inventory
  • Stocks shelves, coolers and displays to ensure products are readily available. Assists with inventory counts and receiving deliverables.
  • Rotates Merchandise following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Checks expiration dates and removes outdated products.

Store Maintenance and Safety
  • Maintains cleanliness of sales floor, restrooms, food prep areas and exterior.
  • Follows food safety and sanitation guidelines when preparing food or beverages.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and store policies. Reports equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.

Teamwork and Operations
  • Collaborates with team members to maintain smooth shift operations. Adapts to flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Prompt and regular attendance on required shifts. Maintains a clean and polished appearance. Adheres to uniform and dress code policies.
  • Supports management with daily, operational tasks. Follows opening and closing procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
