Job description

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting and financial reporting functions of the organization. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, assists with month-end and year-end close processes, and maintains compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the daily cash flow
  • Process Bank Reconciliation
  • Prepares quarterly calculation of Allocation Percentages
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes such as: Preparation of Spreads and allocations, Interdepartmental transfers, in-kind donations etc
  • Responsible for specific accruals and account reconciliations (Prepaid, prepaid postage, security deposits, Telecommunication bill, Construction in Progress, Gift Cards, Petty cash accounts, some employee benefits etc.)
  • Assists with Credit Card management and accrual of expenses
  • Prepares and files all quarterly and annual regulatory reports for sales and use tax
  • Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls, and recommending efficiency and effectiveness improvements
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances and provide explanations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities that are a Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  •  Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Pay Range: $73,000 - $76,000/year
