Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance with personal care for all individuals in the home as needed including, but not limited to, toileting, bathing, dressing and hygiene needs.
  • Provide positive social and leisure interaction to all individuals in the home regularly throughout the day.
  • Safely lift, transfer and reposition all individuals in the home as outlined in daily schedules.
  • Ensure safety for individuals in the home during mealtimes, including preparation of food, diet textures, dietary restrictions, adaptive mealtime equipment and feeding assistance.
  • Complete housekeeping duties on a daily basis to include washing dishes, stripping and making beds, laundry, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, mopping and sweeping.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of individuals in the home. This may include staying past regularly scheduled hours until staff arrive for the next shift or back-up staffing is arranged.
  • Report to work during inclement weather to ensure adequate supervision and care of all individuals in the home. This may include sheltering in place during a hurricane.
  • Treat all people with dignity and respect, ensuring all personal rights are met including communicating in a friendly and professional manner with all people, including individuals in the home, coworkers, visitors and customers.
  • If hired as a driver, operate large capacity vehicles (10-12 passenger vans, wheelchair busses) in order to provide transportation to individuals living in the home to/from training center, medical appointments, home visits and any community outing. Comply with all DOT regulations and local laws relating to operation of a vehicle

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • 18 years of age or older, 21 if driver
  • Read, write and comprehend English with the ability to remain calm and communicate during a crisis
  • Previous working knowledge utilizing household appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, oven, etc.)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, engage in household tasks which include bending and lifting, pushing wheelchairs, use of hands for tasks such as writing, typing, handling small objects

Preferred Qualifications
  • If driver, must be able to operate large capacity vehicles (10-12 passenger vans and wheelchair busses) by driving safely and navigating traffic
  • Valid FL Driver's License in good standing at all times
  • Hoyer lift, van lift, and adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, etc.)
