Job description

Job Description
This position supports the mission of helping individuals come unto Christ by strengthening the effectiveness of missionary training at the MTC. The Mixed-Methods Analyst Assistant contributes to research and evaluation efforts that inform decision-making and improve the missionary experience.
This is an entry-level position that works closely with Research & Evaluation staff to investigate key questions about training experiences using quantitative and qualitative methods (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations). The role includes contributing to research design, collecting and analyzing data, and translating findings into clear, actionable insights.
This role provides hands-on experience in applied research and evaluation, with opportunities to contribute to real program improvements.
Responsibilities
Data Collection & Research Support
  • Assist in refining research questions and study designs

  • Support or conduct focus groups, observations, and interviews

  • Develop and administer surveys (e.g., Qualtrics)

Data Analysis
  • Conduct and support analysis of survey, interview, focus group, and observational data

  • Organize and synthesize existing datasets

  • Identify patterns, themes, and trends in both quantitative and qualitative data

  • Summarize strengths, challenges, and implications based on participant feedback

Reporting & Communication
  • Develop clear, visually effective reports for non-technical audiences

  • Structure findings to support decision-making and program improvement

  • Document methods and analytical approaches to ensure transparency and rigor

Collaboration
  • Work with analysts and researchers to validate and interpret findings

  • Seek input and alignment to ensure accuracy and consistency

  • Contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused team environment

Qualifications
Required
  • Coursework or experience in research methods (minimum 2 years or equivalent)

  • Experience with quantitative (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS) and qualitative (e.g., MAXQDA) data analysis tools

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Completion of research ethics training (e.g., CITI) prior to hire

Preferred
  • Prior experience at the MTC

  • Academic background in social sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology)

  • Experience with applied research or program evaluation

  • Ability to communicate research findings to non-technical audiences

Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based, requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use

  • Collaborative work with Research & Evaluation and MTC staff
