At U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), you'll play a pivotal role in designing, managing, and optimizing cutting-edge enterprise IT systems that uphold the safety and security of our nation. USSTRATCOM is a Combatant Command responsible for strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, and enterprise IT services essential to national security. It oversees Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), Global Strike, and Missile Threat Assessments, working closely with other Combatant Commands, Services, and defense agencies. SCITLS will be a key component that will ensure mission success and safety.

As a Systems Engineer, you will

  • Tier 3 O&S Coordination: Serves as the primary engineering liaison for Tier 3 Operations and Support, coordinating with vendors, technical stakeholders, and lower-tier support to resolve the most complex, escalated enterprise IT issues.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Leads Tier 3 Problem and Incident Management activities, focusing on minimizing the adverse impact of incidents and problems on the business and preventing reoccurrences of incidents related to these errors.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conducts exhaustive Root Cause Analysis on major incidents and chronic systemic issues to identify underlying failure mechanisms rather than just treating symptoms.
  • Reliability Engineering Methods: Actively utilizes traditional Systems Engineering reliability tools and quantitative methods, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), to identify single points of failure, assess risk, and implement corrective actions.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Documents findings, workarounds, and permanent solutions in the Knowledge Management system and delivers comprehensive post-incident problem reports to Government stakeholders..

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • BS degree; may be substituted for additional years of experience
  • 5+ years of IT/DoD systems administration experience
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • Required: Security+ or CASP+ or CCNP Security or CISA or SSCP or other DoD 8140 approved certification. Ability to Obtain ITIL 4 Foundation - ITSM Certification within the first 9 months.
  • Desired: ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), ITIL 4 Specialist: Create, Deliver and Support (CDS), or related advanced Systems Engineering certifications.
  • Deep understanding of Tier 3 O&S workflows and enterprise Incident/Problem Management
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure domains (servers, networks, storage, virtualization, applications)
  • Demonstrated experience performing RCA, FTA, FMEA, or other reliability assessments
  • Experience working in complex, multi-vendor enterprise environments
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to brief non-technical leadership

The likely salary range for this position is $97,968 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
