ROLE SUMMARY:
You will be a member of our IT team focused on building and maintaining enterprise-level cloud and infrastructure services. In this role, you will apply a broad range of service delivery engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to resolve complex issues in creative and practical ways. As a self-starter, you will make quick, effective decisions, translate management requirements into scalable solutions, and implement services focused on high availability, automation, capacity, monitoring, and security. You will work on multiple projects of moderate complexity, exercise sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques, and use your expertise to develop solutions that support business needs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Apply practical knowledge and hands-on experience across a broad range of infrastructure technologies, best practices, processes, and procedures.
• Work across all phases of the solution delivery lifecycle, including requirements definition, architecture, design, implementation, and support.
• Establish, operate, and leverage enterprise capabilities, hosting solutions, infrastructure services, SLAs, and OLAs.
• Build and maintain collaborative working relationships across the IT organization.
• Design and evaluate solutions at both tactical and strategic levels.
• Resolve complex issues and develop innovative solutions in collaboration with other IT disciplines.
• Develop system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
• Ensure high availability and acceptable performance levels for mission-critical resources.
• Develop procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of operating systems and applications.
• Develop and implement system disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Evaluate, recommend, and execute new technologies and update existing infrastructure to optimize systems and network performance.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and partner with IT staff or vendors to perform complex testing, support, and troubleshooting.
• Forecast system demand and recommend upgrades, expansion, and reconfiguration.
• Partner with other IT teams on infrastructure projects and provide Tier 3 support for complex enterprise infrastructure issues.
• Communicate complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences.
• Develop, perform, and enforce best practices for systems management, including configuration, monitoring, alerting, patch management, and security.
• Proactively manage and maintain core Windows and VMware systems, establish operating system build standards, and perform quarterly patching.
• Mentor and cross-train team members on existing and new technologies.
• Conduct reviews and technical inspections to identify and mitigate potential security weaknesses and ensure applied security features are implemented and functional.
• Create and implement procedures to monitor IT systems for suspicious activity that could indicate attempted or actual security incidents or data leakage events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in information systems or equivalent relevant experience.
• 10+ years of IT experience in an enterprise operational environment working with Windows server maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, deployment, and migration.
• 5+ years of experience with Active Directory, VMware, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Azure resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Microsoft and network administration coursework and/or certifications.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networks.
• Experience managing Microsoft server environments.
• Technical understanding of network protocols and services including IP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, NFS, SNMP, BGP, SSH, SFTP, and VPN.
• Experience with network hardening, including firewall devices, ACL management, and network segmentation in a medium to large infrastructure environment.
• Proven experience with virtualization stacks such as ESXi and Hyper-V.
• Hands-on technical experience with storage technologies as they apply to virtualization and relevant backup solutions.
• Experience with common IT tools for monitoring, alerting, analytics, and change management.
EXPECTATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• This position is located in Billerica, MA.
• Occasional travel of less than 5% to remote locations may be required.
• Night or weekend work may be required as needed.
• Employee may be required to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Hands-on experience with authentication, authorization, and accounting technologies, including LDAP, NPS, PAM, Active Directory, Entra ID, and SSO technologies such as SAML.
• Administration experience with cloud environments related to core infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Azure resources, and AWS.
• Experience with telephony and Microsoft Teams.
• Experience with scripting and task automation.
• Experience with operating system hardening, patching, remediation, performance tuning, capacity management, and server monitoring.
• Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving, consensus-building, and results-oriented skills with the ability to act quickly to achieve goals.
• Solid technical grounding, project management, implementation experience, and proven system architecture and design abilities.
