Job description

Position Summary

Individual must be highly motivated with the ability to manage activities within our Quality Assurance Department. Individual will be responsible for ensuring consistency within the organization in the areas of food safety and quality while maintaining and building relationships with both internal and external customers.

Essential Functions/Key Deliverables

  • Develop, implement, verify and validate Food Safety and QA processes and procedures used to monitor & update quality systems for incoming raw materials, production, and products (Finished and Work in Process) to ensure compliance to all regulatory, customer, and company requirements.

  • Addresses BRCGS deviations on an immediate and ongoing basis and assists in the training and development of production personnel in these areas.

  • Provide products and services to customers (internal and external), which meet or exceed expectations.

  • Assist in implementing, mentoring, monitoring and acting as HARA Team Leader.

  • Drive plant improvement by providing proactive solutions to issues that will support facility operations staff in achieving Quality and Safety goals.

  • Conducts, implements yearly reassessment of food safety programs, BRCGS training and self inspections.

  • Maintain contact between Sales and Operations in order to communicate customer/consumer issues and resolutions that arise and brings about corrective action if needed.

  • Maintain effective working relationship with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Purchasing and Operations. Provide timely, accurate, and relevant data and analysis to enable them to effectively manage the business.

  • Maintain a professional working relationship with regulatory bodies. Monitor industry and regulatory news to identify new trends that could be utilized for continuous improvement within the facility and company

  • Build and maintain a strong team through effective training, mentoring, and team building.

  • Monitoring and testing of critical control points (CCPs)

  • Perform any other duty reasonable corresponding with the role.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5 to 10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with proven experience in managing teams and maintaining quality and food safety programs.

  • Experience in metal packaging production - specifically 2-piece aluminum beverage can experience preferred.

  • Exposure to required audits and proven implementation of quality programs.

  • Proven track record of managing individuals.

  • Knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS, GMP's and ISO

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, determine corrective action and provide necessary steps for follow through.

  • Self Motivated, detailed oriented with the ability to work in a fast and ever-changing environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create professional and technical reports and presentations in a timely manner and clearly communicate to all levels of personnel.

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.

Work Environment
Ability to work in an environment that can become loud and very hot (temperature) depending on the weather.
