Job Description
Ultra I&C is hiring multiple Model Based Systems Engineers to join us in our Austin, TX or Huntsville, AL locations. This position will lead a variety of system design and development efforts across a series of new programs within our organization. The Systems Engineer will tackle complex technical challenges and provide expert-level analysis and judgment in support of critical defense programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of design and development of integrated avionics and communications systems.
  • Provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems.
  • Resolves highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research.
  • Must be able to defend work and design approach following a variety of the Systems Engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
  • Relies on applicable experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works to place planning and reflection cadences into use across multiple project teams with the goal of synchronizing team members and activities.
  • Strives to increase the efficiency of development practices by guiding the flow, architecture, design quality, code quality, system quality, and release quality of deliverables.
  • Familiar with a variety of the Systems Engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Mentor junior engineering candidates in Systems Engineering best practices.
  • Develops/writes system test plans and procedures in accordance with industry standards (IEEE Standard for Software Test Documentation etc.).
  • Simulates end-user operations and executes test procedures.
  • Supports the generation of testable requirements and designs test bed architecture.
  • Writes detailed test cases and articulates results in chosen software development lifecycle management tool (e.g., Digital.ai Agility, JIRA etc.)

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an Engineering-related field.
  • Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance required (U.S. Citizenship is mandatory).
  • 8+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or a related field, including proven experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with simulation tools and techniques for system design, analysis, and validation.

Desired Skills:
  • Prior experience with Army Command and Control (C2) systems such as IBCS, FAAD, THAAD etc.
  • 3+ years of experience with tactical data links including Link 16
  • 3+ years of experience with DoD radio communications systems
  • 3+ years of experience with IP network design and maintenance
  • Safe Engineering experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of new product Life Cycle to include: system design, development, integration, test, delivery, product support and retirement
  • Hold the following certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Linux+, CompTIA Project+, CompTIA AeroIT.
  • Holds or willing to work towards Systems Engineering Professional Certification (e.g. INCOSE ASEP as a minimum)
