Center Medical Director – Urgent Care (PA/NP)

Are you an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner looking for an opportunity to combine clinical practice with meaningful leadership?

Carbon Health is looking for a Full-Time Center Medical Director (CMD) to join our Sacramento urgent care team. This role offers the opportunity to remain clinically engaged while leading and developing a team of clinicians and helping shape the future of urgent care in the Sacramento community.

As a Center Medical Director, you will partner closely with the Center Manager and Area Medical Director to build a high-performing, collaborative clinical team while maintaining a strong focus on patient care, quality, safety, and patient experience.

Compensation offers are based on factors including education, experience, work history, and geographic location.

Approximately 30 hours per week of direct patient care, allowing you to continue practicing medicine while developing your leadership skills and supporting your clinical team.

Mentor providers, support clinical development, participate in hiring and onboarding, provide meaningful feedback, and help create an environment where clinicians feel supported, empowered, and accountable.

You’ll work closely with a Clinic Manager and Area Medical Director, with support around operations, staffing, clinician development, quality improvement, and escalation management.

Help build a strong clinical team while expanding access to high-quality urgent care for patients throughout the Sacramento community.

• Provide evidence-based, compassionate urgent care to patients 6 months and up
• Diagnose and treat a broad range of acute and chronic conditions appropriate for an urgent care setting
• Maintain high standards of clinical quality, safety, and patient experience
• Support and promote evidence-based clinical practices across the team
• Participate in clinical quality improvement initiatives and special projects

• Serve as the clinical leader for your assigned urgent care center
• Mentor, coach, and develop clinicians to support their clinical growth and success
• Participate in clinician interviews, onboarding, and ongoing development
• Conduct regular chart reviews and clinical performance evaluations
• Identify educational opportunities and facilitate a culture of continuous learning
• Address clinical concerns and patient or staff complaints involving the clinical team
• Lead regular clinical team meetings and foster open, respectful communication
• Partner with clinicians and operational leaders to identify and resolve barriers to high-quality care
• Promote a culture focused on clinical excellence, patient safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

• Partner with the Center Manager to maintain a safe, efficient, and collaborative clinic environment
• Collaborate with operational and medical leadership on staffing, scheduling, patient access, and clinic performance
• Use clinical and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement
• Support strategies that improve patient access, quality, efficiency, and patient experience
• Participate in community and market initiatives that support clinic growth and engagement

We're looking for a clinician who is passionate about patient care and excited about developing people and building strong teams.

• Physician Assistant: Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PA program and current national certification.
• Nurse Practitioner: Current RN and NP licensure and national certification.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or a similar clinical setting.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
• Active and unrestricted California medical license.
• BLS certification.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships and collaborate effectively across clinical and operational teams.
• Commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and a positive patient experience.

DOT certification must be obtained prior to your start date. Carbon Health will cover course and examination fees and provide resources to help you successfully complete the certification.
