Job description

Job Summary:  Seeking a Quality Control Assistant for a rubber manufacturing shop that has been a leader in industry for over 30 years. Inspecting small rubber and metal parts as well as testing the quality of materials or assembled parts and products for defects and deviations from specifications. Must know how to read and understand engineering drawings, use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and other measuring tools.

Pay Rate: $18 - $26 depending on experience

Job Location: Salt Lake County

Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Thursday, overtime as need.

  • Over time would consist of working until 4:30pm Mon-Fri and 5:00am to 11:00am on Saturday. OT is not mandatory but appreciated.

Responsibilities: Applicants could be required to do any of the following:

  • Inspecting and testing the raw materials and products to make sure they meet required levels of quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments, changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive, ability to understand instructions and execute without supervision.
  • Strong reading comprehension and proof-reading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to prevent and catch errors.
  • Solid computer skills in MS Excel.
  • Assist machinist running presses, lathes, mills, and other machinery.
  • Set up and tear down of machines and change overs. 
  • Handle grinders, sanders and other hand/power tools.
  • Mix raw material by following the specs formulating rubber.
  • Will also be in charge of shipping and receiving.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Solid understanding of test equipment.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of inspection and/or production experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts. including fractions, ratios, and proportions.
  • Must be ok with working around ovens.
  • Ability to work with different measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape, and rulers etc.
