DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?  

The Basics:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience in continuous galvanizing production/maintenance or similar
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledge of; heat treat systems and processes, continuous coating processes, production systems, and strip steel application
  • Ability to sensitively handle confidential material

The Extras:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering preferred
  • Previous work experience as technical expert for Hot Dip Galvanizing Line preferred
  • Knowledge of continuous process lines
  • Management experience preferred

TRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

  • Leadership and organization for operations during maintenance outages including shut down, completing operations outage tasks, and startup
  • Eagerness to learn new tasks and acquire special projects as available from Team Manager
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (oral and verbal), worth ethic, and display a high degree of professionalism

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Safety & Performance Monitoring - Actively participate in safety programs (audits, meetings, inspections) and review performance dashboards covering reliability, quality, productivity, and operating costs to develop continuous improvement plans
  • Daily Operations Leadership - Participate in daily news meetings, provide operational updates, manage shift audit non-conformances, and lead production meetings when Team Manager is absent
  • Maintenance & Outage Coordination - Coordinate planned maintenance outages with pre-conditions and timelines, maintain operator maintenance work orders (90%+ compliance), and oversee furnace roll/radiant tube documentation and inspections
  • Production Scheduling & Inventory Management - Coordinate production scheduling with Supply Chain, maintain critical supplies inventory (tools, equipment, chemicals, etc.), and ensure work instructions meet performance expectations
  • Process Improvement & Training - Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) processes, maintain operator training programs using mentor-learner checklists, and review SAP work notifications as part of maintenance gatekeeping
  • Provide technical assistance for production issues to the Shift Managers
  • Ensuring all technical issues related to production support are addressed with timeliness

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
