Job description

Job Description
Vehicle Controls Software Quality/Process Engineer
We made history and now we work to transform the future - for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.
Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company's vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You'll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.
In this position...
You will be a key driver in defining and evolving our Software Quality Operating System (QOS). Your mission is to ensure our software development lifecycle remains robust, compliant, and cutting-edge. You will act as the bridge between corporate quality mandates and engineering execution, overseeing the internal review and alignment of our QOS structure to ensure it meets the rigorous demands of modern automotive software. By blending industry research with hands-on process engineering, you will help us build a industry-leading development environment that prioritizes safety, security, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
What you'll do...
  • QOS Governance: Oversee the internal review process and ensure the alignment of the existing Software Quality Operating System (QOS) structure across all software projects.
  • Standards Integration: Drive the development and evolution of the QOS to ensure full alignment with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), Automotive SPICE, and emerging cybersecurity and update regulations (UN R155/R156).
  • Compliance & Procedures: Ensure all processes are mapped to and compliant with specific Ford Automotive Procedures, maintaining a seamless link between global corporate requirements and local execution.
  • Process Engineering: Lead the continuous improvement of internal development processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing lean methodologies to streamline the SDLC.
  • Industry Research: Conduct ongoing research on industry best practices and emerging trends in software engineering (e.g., AI-driven testing, DevSecOps, Software-Defined Vehicle trends) to keep our processes competitive.
  • Gap Analysis: Lead process mapping and formal gap analysis activities to ensure readiness for internal and external audits.
  • Quality Metrics: Define and monitor quality gates and KPIs to verify that the software produced adheres to the defined QOS standards.

Qualifications
You'll have...
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Process Expertise: 2+years experience in developing and maintaining software development processes and Quality Operating Systems (QOS).
  • Standards Knowledge: 2+ years experience ASPICE process mapping and ISO 26262 gap analysis.
  • Procedural Experience: 2+ years experience Ford Automotive Procedures or similar large-scale OEM corporate quality standards.
  • Tooling & Methodology: 2+ years experience with process management tool Stages and hands-on experience working in Agile project processes using Jira.
  • Leadership: 2+ years experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and manage cross-functional process alignment.

Even better, you may have...
  • Software Development Experience: Previous hands-on experience in software coding or architecture, providing a deep understanding of the developer's workflow and pain points.
  • Quality Tools: Experience with code quality metrics, static/dynamic analysis tools, and comprehensive software testing methodologies.
  • Audit Experience: Experience participating in or leading formal ASPICE assessments or ISO 26262 functional safety audits.
  • Agile Transformation: Experience adapting traditional automotive standards (V-Model) into Agile, Scrum, or Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments.
  • Strategic Thinking: The ability to not just follow processes, but to research and propose "next-generation" engineering practices that improve speed-to-market.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:
โ€ข Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
โ€ข Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
โ€ข Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
โ€ข Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
โ€ข Tuition assistance
โ€ข Established and active employee resource groups
โ€ข Paid time off for individual and team community service
โ€ข A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day
โ€ข Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
