Job Summary:
The Process Engineer will lead operational excellence projects, from initiation to completion, working closely with all operations departments (extrusion, inside liner, lithography, neckdown, EHS, etc.) to optimize manufacturing performance. The process engineer position is responsible for determining operations to produce products and develops processes to ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met. This position troubleshoots problems with production and takes corrective action. This position will report directly to Plant Manager.
Job Duties:
  • Evaluate, implement and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of aluminum containers.
  • Effectively engage and motivate cross-functional employees at all levels of the organization, from operators to managers.
  • Create/edit/maintain necessary documentation.
  • Manage projects to ensure on-time/on budget implementation.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel.
  • Lead groups of cross-functional employees in order to overcome obstacles inherent within the manufacturing environment (matrix organizational structure, high-volume production, 24/7-operating facility, etc.).
  • Facilitate and sustain (via improved communication, documentation, etc.) best practices and knowledge sharing among departments and production crews/shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
  • B.S. Engineering - with previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years' experience in the engineering field within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvements and project management.
  • Statistical Analysis experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with various with inspection equipment and inspection process development (gauges, SMM, etc.)
  • Familiarity with lean and six sigma methodologies, (i.e. DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Whys, Capability Analysis, etc.)
  • Ability to lead and influence through all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings and understanding of GD&T.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and attention to detail are critical.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products.
