Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Day Shift)
Location: Cleveland, OH 44114
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
Pay: $25-$35/hr
Hire Type: Direct Hire

Sterling Engineering is partnering with a well-established, family-owned manufacturing company to hire a Maintenance Technician for a day shift opportunity supporting production equipment through preventative maintenance and mechanical, electrical, and PLC troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC-controlled equipment issues.
  • Repair motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform troubleshooting on 480V and 110V electrical systems.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and communicate equipment status across shifts.
  • Work independently while partnering with engineering, production, and maintenance leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC motors, drives, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with extrusion or plastics manufacturing.
  • Associate degree, technical training, or maintenance certifications.
  • Electrical, mechanical, or PLC certifications.
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance systems.
