Prospect Mold and Die is looking to add a DAY OR NIGHT SHIFT CMM Programmer/Operator to our talented workforce.  

The CMM Programmer/Operator is responsible for the measurement and reporting of jobs which need coordinate measuring inspection. Additionally, the CMM Programmer/Operator holds shared responsibility for assisting with inspection/quality related secondary processes under the guidance of the CMS supervisor and subsequently the Director of Quality. The CMM Programmer/Operator will work in conjunction with all other Departments, Supervisors and Project Managers keeping a positive attitude and a good work ethic.  This position is a DAY shift position

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The CMM Programmer/Operator is responsible for (PC-DMIS) programming and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to inspect and report precision production parts within the Aerospace and Defense industry. Level 3 PC-DMIS Experience REQUIRED.


DUTIES:

  • Create PcDMIS and/or Verisurf programs against scheduled production/tooling work, using 3D CAD, and or 2D drawings.
  • Optimize existing programs for increased part throughput and efficiency.
  • Routine cleaning of CMM and worktable/workspace, ensuring a FOD free measurement environment. 
  • Troubleshoot programming deficiencies in offline and online environments.
  • Interpret and apply ASME or ISO GD&T drawing/MBD requirements to create a program that satisfy all drawing/part characteristics.
  • Create and complete First Article Inspection Reports (AS9102).
  • Perform manual inspections, as required, including the use of micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other functional gages.
  • Perform leak detection tests, as required.
  • Balloon 2D prints and plan upcoming inspections using High QA Inspection Manger Software.
  • Interpret, verify, and validate parts to industry, customer, and/or internal standard  requirements.
  • Create/Review manufacturing, test, and/or material specifications.
  • Present and communicate inspection results internally to area management, as well as externally to customers.
  • Work in conjunction with external source inspectors, auditors and suppliers on verification/validation activities.
  • Perform part castings to validate part geometry.
  • Perform CMM preventative maintenance activities.
  • Perform calibration of internal measurement gages.
  • Write standard operating procedures aligned with CMM inspection activities.
  • Operate overhead crane to move parts and fixtures within work environment.
  • Aid in part fixture design for inspection repeatability and reproducibility.
  • Perform correlation and Gage R&R activities where required.
  • Perform data entry into planning and reporting software/systems. 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years minimum experience in programming and inspection using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
  • Experienced in inspecting parts and/or inspection to tightened tolerance requirements.
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience and understanding in algebra and coordinate mathematic principles.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with manufacturing, quality, and program management to communicate inspection findings, results, and statuses, communicating need for disposition, if applicable.
  • Experience in performing work under industry quality system standards such as ISO 9001 and/or AS9100.
  • Experience inspecting parts against a 3D CAD model as well as 2D drawings.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic machining and manufacturing skills and understanding.
  • Aerospace and Defense Industry knowledge and experience.
  • Experienced in  PcDMIS and/or Verisurf software.
  • Experience in a production part or tooling environment.
  • Experience in viewing models in a 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.).
  • Comfortable working with DEA and/or Renishaw Coordinate Measuring Machine
