Job description

For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Quality Lab Tech (overnights).
This position pays $23.65 per hour. There is an additional $1 differential for hours worked between 6pm and 6am. Weekly pay.
Summary Description:
The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for all analytical and performance evaluations at the plant. The Quality Lab Tech is also responsible for maintaining inventory supplies accordingly. This position is responsible for ensuring that proper communication is provided to both Quality supervisor, QE group leader, and production with any testing/evaluation deviations. Responsible for the operation of lab tests in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures.
All other duties as assigned.
Job Duties (Accountability Categories and Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities):

  • At all times, operate in a manner consistent with safe operating procedures.
  • Review Quality SOPs for understanding and standard processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret the manufacturing specifications.
  • Proper handling of samples prior to, during, and after required testing.
  • Able to understand and explain testing procedures with knowledge of proper recording requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is working within the specified operating parameters, and able to perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Able to perform physical evaluations of product.
  • Pull required samples and test/analyze in accordance with Cyberdocs, corporate request.
  • Ability to generate Quality Alerts and provide timely communication to all affected parties.
  • Able to perform required packaging checks as required per manufacturing specification.
  • Maintain current and accurate record keeping for lab paperwork.
  • Able to maintain open communication with the different departments.
  • Direct interaction with the production team, FedEx, and TWW representatives.
  • Ensure all analytical, performance, micro samples are pulled aseptically.
  • Ability to maintain and track samples pulled and ensure detailed communication with production when reseal and replacard are required.
  • Able to work in a high stress environment.
  • Effective communication with the sales, corporate, and plant team.
  • Works Collaboratively with different departments
  • to ensure that customer service goals are met.
  • Able to make calculated decisions.
  • Knowledge of lab sampling SOPs
  • Request product from warehouse pending needs for release accurate and timely manner in SAP.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or group leader.
  • Adhere to all company and regulatory GMPs.
  • Comply with corporate rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Troubleshoots lab equipment to ensure standards are met.
  • At all times, operate in a manner consistent with safe operating procedures.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area, participating in the Master Sanitation Schedule.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
  • 1 to 3 years of equivalent work experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

Additional Minimum Qualifications/Eligibility Requirements for Internal Applicants
  • Signed Internal Non-Exempt Job Request Form
  • At least 12 months in position (if applying for a lateral position)
  • No current performance concerns
  • Fewer than 1 full attendance point
  • Supervisor/manager confirmation of career readiness

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience in the Manufacturing, Quality in Food, of Quality in Dairy industries is preferred.

Physical/Mental Requirements and Work Environment:
Work Environment Description:
  • The Quality Lab Technician must be able to lift moderate weights repeatedly throughout the shift. The position holder is also required to stand/walk, climb steps or ladders, lift equipment parts throughout the shift and must have the ability to work in hot, humid, and cold areas. The Quality Lab Technician must be able to work overtime and holidays when required. The operator must be able to read/write and perform basic arithmetic in order to understand the S.O.P.'s, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safe work practices. The Quality Lab Technician performs all the assigned housekeeping and inspection program duties.

This position requires the incumbent to work on site at the facility to be able to perform the associated job responsibilities.
