Job Title: Associate Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering

Job Description:

Responsible for management of engineering and inspectors ensuring high quality deliveries of procured products.  Coordinates/develops/monitors/maintains necessary metrics, procedures, controls to assure compliance/conformance to regulatory, customer, and company requirements.  Will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to analyze and resolve process issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions, and ensuring long term effectivity.


Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and track with supply base for containment, root cause, and proper corrective and preventive actions on non-conformances and customer returns.
  • Leading a team of supplier quality engineers and inspectors, while maintaining specific supplier responsibilities, and interfacing with customers and program personnel.
  • Review, understand, ensure communication of quality flow down requirements to the supply base.
  • Ensure Supplier First Article Inspections are accurate and per AS9102 standards prior to approval and provide training to supply base when necessary.
  • Support Engineering in defining key/critical product and process characteristics.
  • Perform review of bid and proposal activities that support supplier quality needs.
  • Perform audits in support of onboarding new suppliers or proactive surveillance audits for critical supplier.
  • Analyze supplier performance and develop improvement plans for identified problem areas to drive down supplier COPQ and nonconformance rates.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (typically around 25%).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 6 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Must be a US citizen.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CQA, or CSSBB).
  • PPAP/APQP implementation experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Special process audit experience (NDT, heat treat, plating).
  • Circuit Card Manufacturing.
  • Knowledgeable of concepts, practices, policies/procedures in engineering, manufacturing and project management functions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and ability to track to deadlines. 
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 quality system requirements (AS9145/AS9103 experience a strong plus).
  • Advanced experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Working knowledge of quality concepts and tools (i.e., lean six-sigma, DOE, 8D, 5 Why, etc.).
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum oversight, effectively lead and manage a small team of technical staff.
