Job description

Brayman Construction Corporation is seeking a qualified Quality Control Technician to join our team for the $769.9 million Montgomery Locks and Dam project, awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Monaca, PA. This major initiative involves removal of the existing lock chamber and constructing a new 110-ft by 600-ft primary lock chamber at the Montgomery Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Monaca, PA. The work will begin with in-the-wet construction for portions of the lock wall monoliths, followed by cofferdam installation and dry construction of the remaining monoliths. Deconstruction of the existing auxiliary lock chamber will start in Spring 2025, with project completion anticipated in 2030. This vital infrastructure project is part of the larger Upper Ohio Navigation Project, designed to upgrade aging lock systems and ensure safe, efficient navigation along the Ohio River. SUMMARY OF QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively involved in project safety programs
  • Assists Project QC Staff and Project Supervision
  • Assists with field testing and documentation. This includes a variety of construction disciplines like concrete, soils, welding, or maintenance of traffic
  • Performs quality control testing and reporting
  • Works toward obtaining testing certifications
  • Effectively communicates with the project owner(s)
  • Represent the company with the owner's inspectors
  • Travels to jobsites as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

SUMMARY OF QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to new challenges.
  • Must be willing and able to travel or relocate as necessary for projects.
  • Must be willing to work day or night shift pending on the project needs.

QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technicians - Grade I with 5 years of experience
  • ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Grade I with 5 years of experience
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector Certificate
  • ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Completion of at least one internship with a heavy civil, foundation, or steel erection contractor or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in the inspection and testing of various construction disciplines like concrete, soils, welding, or maintenance of traffic required
