Job Summary

As a Summer Intern, you will assist with field and laboratory testing of construction materials, such as concrete, aggregates, and soils, to ensure compliance with project specifications. This role provides exposure to testing procedures, quality standards, and documentation practices used in the heavy civil construction industry.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with sampling and testing of construction materials (concrete, aggregates, soils).
  • Learn and apply current quality standards and specifications under supervision.
  • Support QC staff in preparing and submitting test reports.
  • Observe and practice proper handling of lab and field testing equipment.
  • Participate in safety training and follow company safety standards.
  • Gain exposure to interaction with project teams, client representatives, and inspectors.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisors or mentors.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong interest in construction materials and infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in lab environments.
  • Willingness to travel to jobsites in the Kansas City area.
