Description

Innovative-IDM one of the country's premier Industrial Automation and Motion Controls distributors is looking for an experienced Quality Control Technician to join our team!

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for quality control checks on finished electro-mechanical assemblies to confirm that quality specifications have been met. The Quality Control Technician will also conduct incoming inspection on raw materials, components, and custom parts to ensure the purchased item meets quality specifications upon receipt. Quality Control will also verify that electrical control panels meet UL508A standards, as well as all making sure that all internal or customer assembly standards are being met by all production assembly personnel. In this role, the technician will provide quality guidance to the production personnel to ensure quality at the source is being maintained and will also assist with training current and new team members on quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality inspection on finished electro-mechanical products
  • Maintain log of all quality issues received internally or by customers.
  • Ensure that relevant job documentation is accurate and up-to-date for quality requirements and work standardization.
  • Perform rework to products to correct defective product.
  • Document, markup, and submit Engineering Change Requests to correct drawings, instructions, and bills of materials.
  • Travel to customer sites to discuss and potentially resolve quality issues with products.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining the department quality manual and standards.
  • Perform internal process audits.
  • Maintain daily quality log of all products built in a database, including QC Forms, pictures, and UL log.
  • Lead corrective and preventative action investigations.
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics reports.
  • Present quality metric data to management and manufacturing teams as assigned.
  • Follow and perform duties as directed by Factory Acceptance Test documents.
  • Report on internal defects of products to assembly technicians for improvement of work.
  • Lead improvement efforts and projects as assigned.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3 years of quality control experience.
  • 1 year of manufacturing assembly experience.
  • Prior experience with UL508A standards a plus.
  • Prior experience with National Electrical Code or NFPA 70 a plus.
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Good knowledge of electrical and controls systems.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electro-mechanical schematics, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good time management skills with a focus on results.
  • Must be able to give details and reports.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Experience with PC and MS Office products.
  • Must be a problem-solver who takes on responsibility for continuous improvement.
  • Takes initiative and requires minimal supervision.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
