Job description

JOB DIMENSIONS

-    General purpose: support operations by analyzing and ensuring incoming raw materials, production batches, and outgoing shipments follow standard quality assurance procedures and meet quality specifications.
-    Shift schedule rotates days, nights, and weekends - 12-hour shifts - 6am/pm-6pm/am


ACTIVITIES
General Duties

-    Prepare and refill all lab solutions and solvents, as needed.
-    Proper handling, maintenance and disposal of sample retains, per applicable work instructions.
-    Restock lab supplies as needed. Check lab inventories and notify the QA Manager of needs.
-    Proper disposal of waste pails and solvents, as needed.
-    Maintain required laboratory housekeeping standards.
-    Perform customer service duties during off-hours, including receipt and processing of customer orders.
-    Functions as plant security monitor during off business hours.
-    Safe work practices; proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
-    Special Projects as designated by QA Management and other job duties, as assigned.
-    Analysis and documentation of calibration standards and audit samples.


For incoming Raw Material 

-    Analyze materials delivered by certified vendors per the standard procedures for receiving, testing, and verification ensuring that all incoming material meets requirements as listed in QA database.
-    Enter all results into the QA database, if applicable. 
-    If materials that dot not meet specified requirements, notify the QA Management for approval or material disposition.
-    Enter Purchase Order receipts of incoming raw material into ERP/CRM Database, if applicable.


For Manufactured Products

-    Generate product formulations (Process Orders) for the Production department using ERP/CRM Database and Excel formulations
-    Make sure all products do not exhibit non-typical properties that may fall under the required specifications before disposition.
-    Run all tests according to specified test methods to ensure that produced material meets the requirements before disposition to a storage tank, drums, tank truck, or railcar. If not, make recommendations to production to adjust the material into specification, if possible.
-    If a situation arises where a product formulation or procedure does not make provisions for an adjustment to bring material into specification, contact QA Management for guidelines.
-    When batches are completed, enter the batch receipt into ERP/CRM Database.

For Outgoing Shipments

-    Run all tests according to specified test methods to ensure products meet all customer specifications before approval is given for loading.
-    Print domestic bill of lading for shipments. Check pertinent customer information on domestic and international bill of landing before the material is certified. 
-    Ensure that the appropriate SDS is attached to the bill of lading.
-    If required, generate a Certificate of Analysis for the material being shipped.


CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

-    Position based in Mulberry, Florida Chemical Facility.
-    Requires some physical work that can involve routine lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching, and standing for long hours.
-    Must be able to safely perform all the duties of the job
-    Ability to safely lift up to 40lbs.
-    Must be able to pass a post-offer/pre-placement drug screen, background check, job-related pulmonary function test. (Must also follow facial hair guidelines.)


SKILLS & ABILITIES

-    Must be self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
-    Ability to work independently and with a team, required.
-    Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.
-    Strong analytical skills, required. 
-    Must be proficient in math and possess knowledge of basic chemistry, lab equipment/instrumentation, standard lab, and safety procedures.
-    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, required.
-    Must be able to become proficient with lab related software and equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

-    High School Diploma, or equivalent, with 1 year of experience working in a technical lab OR Bachelor's Degree in a Science discipline, is required. (Chemistry degree, preferred.)
-    Department of Transportation (DOT), and International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) training experience, preferred.
-    SAP experience, preferred.
