Ingevity is seeking a Quality Assurance Lab Technician to join our North Charleston manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for performing analytical testing, ensuring product quality, and supporting plant operations through accurate laboratory analysis and documentation. This role operates on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule supporting 24/7 operations:
Schedule Details:
  • Rotating day and night shifts on a consistent cycle
  • Typically, 3-4 consecutive workdays per shift rotation
  • Scheduled weekend work shared evenly across teams
  • Overtime eligible and about 16 hours a month of overtime (time and a half pay) guaranteed

How you will impact Ingevity:
  • Perform wet chemical and instrumental analyses on in-process and shipment samples using established methods.
  • Enter, track, and manage analytical data in systems such as Proficy and SAP.
  • Evaluate the quality of products and raw materials to help maintain high standards.
  • Prepare, package, and maintain shipment sample retains.
  • Conduct routine calibration, maintenance, and performance checks on laboratory instruments.
  • Prepare and standardize reagents to support accurate and consistent testing.
  • Document results clearly and communicate findings with team members and stakeholders.
  • Maintain laboratory records, including SPC charts and lab notebooks.
  • Learn and apply new testing methods, technologies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet analytical and operational needs.
  • Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives, such as R&R studies.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment through inspections and housekeeping.
  • Work with a variety of analytical instruments, including Karl Fischer, GC, GPC, IC, FT-IR, UV/VIS, and X-ray fluorescence.

What you need to succeed:
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Associate in Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • One year of Chemical lab experience or chemical plant industrial experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Laboratory experience and instrumental analysis preferred.
  • Proficient in the operation of computers and software, documentation, and multi-tasking.
  • Must be able to communicate information in a clear, concise manner required.
  • Must have sufficient physical dexterity to perform laboratory evaluations accurately and timely.
