Job Overview
Title: Aerospace NDT Assistant – 1st Shift
Reports to: Shift Supervisor or Value Stream Manager
Location: Kent, WA – onsite
Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Schedule Type: 1st Shift
Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. Normal Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday – Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Salary Range for position: $ 21.00 – 24.00. The pay range and total compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to your relevant experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other employees. Position Summary
Employees in this position will learn how to perform tasks in support of the Level 1 and Level II Non-Destructive Testing Inspector(s) including loading, running, and unloading the ovens for stress bakes and vapor degreasing. To succeed in this role, the NDT Assistant will maintain and organize a daily schedule of process bake times and communicate appropriately to variable departments including, but not limited to, NDT and Plating. NDT Assistants will be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. NDT Assistants perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications.
* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with experienced Level I and II NDT Inspectors to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Learn to follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced NDT Inspectors.
  • Learn general review of paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Learn to prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
  • Learn to perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Learn to follow Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Must follow safety precautions as trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.

Education & Experience
  • 1-2 years in an aerospace production and/or similar manufacturing environment a plus.

 Work Environment:
  • Hearing protection required in certain areas.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Temperature fluctuations based on outdoor conditions.
  • PPE required: safety glasses/goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, respirator (provided by company).
