Position Summary

Reporting to Quality Assurance (QA)/Food Safety Manager, the QA Assistant is responsible for communicating approved information on food safety, product quality, and other assigned topics to both management and plant personnel.. The QA Assistant will collaborate in Food Safety & quality inspections and compliance audits. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist in editing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), policies, programs and production forms
  • Maintain the Document Control System
  • Assist in Food Safety and Quality Training, as directed by the Quality Assurance Food Safety Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Update and create product specifications.
  • Provide documentation and samples for customer requests.
  • Perform internal facility audits and provide corrective actions for findings.
  • Assist in external audits and coordinate any follow-up actions required.
  • Track all quality holds, review deviation paperwork, and other documents with the FSQ Supervisor and FSQ Manager
  • Collect and review sanitation and pest control records. Must adhere to the GMP’s, GLP’s and all other quality programs
  • Wear PPE when required and strictly adhere to all safety procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring work area is clean and organized
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or state equivalency is required 
  • One year food manufacturing experience required, Bachelor’s Degree can be substituted for one year of experience. 
  • Experience in document control, GMPs and HACCP preferred 
  • Detail oriented and inclined for process improvement is required
  • Flexibility with scheduled days and hours is required 
  • Be a self-starter, hands-on, highly motivated with little supervision 
  • Speak, read, and write English/Spanish is required
  • Possess good work ethics and professionalism is required
  • Be a team player and work well with all personnel is required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is required
  • This role is performed on site at a facility that regularly processes tree nuts. Employees in this position will routinely work in areas where tree nuts and related allergens are present and may be exposed by contact or in the air. Reasonable accommodations may be available to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the role.

The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $27-$29 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
