Job description

Position Summary:

Ag Express Electronics is seeking a Harness Quality Technician who will be responsible for ensuring product excellence and compliance with industry standards through testing, debugging, and constant improvement of processes. This crucial role will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-performing and reliable solutions. 

This position is located at our Sulphur Springs, Indiana facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise

  • Conduct comprehensive visual inspections and functional tests on wire harnesses at various production stages to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform electrical continuity and insulation resistance tests to verify the integrity and accuracy of wire harnesses.
  • Address customer support inquiries related to quality concerns, providing technical expertise when needed.

Equipment Management

  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.

Documentation

  • Document quality control data, inspection results, and test reports with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Provide detailed quality reports to department leadership and operations team members.
  • Assist in process audits to ensure correct implementation of manufacturing procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the production team to address any quality issues identified.
  • Help implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide training and support to production operators on quality standards, testing procedures, and best practices.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency and elevate product quality.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and relevant certifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, necessary for effective collaboration with coworkers and managers.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with demonstrated ability to use good judgment in demanding situations.
  • Knowledge of electrical harness assembly techniques and tools preferred.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Work Experience: Prior experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing or electronics environment is preferred.
  • Certifications: Preferred; IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies).

Physical Demands:

  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to manipulate small components, connectors, and wires with precision and accuracy during the assembly and testing of electrical systems. 
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally, the role may involve lifting and carrying equipment, tools, or materials weighing up to a certain limit. 
  • Standing and Walking: Some tasks may require standing and walking around the facility for limited periods of time, such as collaborating with coworkers and testing certain equipment. 
  • Visual Acuity: Good eyesight and visual acuity are important for reading technical diagrams, inspecting electrical components, and identifying small details during the repair and testing process. 
  • Sitting for Extended Periods: Much of the work may be conducted at a desk or workstation, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods 
  • Repetitive Motion: Some tasks, electronic assembly or testing, may involve repetitive motions of the hands, arms, or fingers. Ergonomic practices should be followed to minimize the risk of repetitive strain injuries. 
  • Safety Awareness: Awareness of and adherence to safety protocols and procedures, including ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols, is essential when navigating the organization’s facilities to ensure compliance and minimize the risk of workplace hazards or accidents.
