Quail Run Hospital is a 115-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Phoenix, Arizona. Quail Run features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. Job Description
The Admissions Counselor conducts mental health and substance use assessments for individuals ages 12 and up to determine appropriate level of care. This role manages incoming referrals, coordinates assessments and admissions, completes required admission documentation, and collaborates with patients, families, providers, and community partners to support timely and appropriate placement. The Admissions Counselor provides crisis intervention, gathers collateral information, and ensures patients are referred or admitted to the most appropriate treatment setting, including inpatient, outpatient, or court-ordered evaluation when indicated.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Answers telephone within 3 rings using the appropriate greeting and attempts to obtain all pertinent clinical, demographic and insurance information from the caller to determine caller's needs. Keeps aware of calls waiting in the queue which require immediate attention.
  • Determines clinical appropriateness for potential admissions and competently screens and assesses for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, withdrawal symptoms, aggression and/or danger to others, potential for self-inflicted harm or suicide, and co-existing behavioral health issues.
  • Schedules assessments, psychiatric evaluations and admissions with potential patient/referral source within 24 hours. Explains the evaluation and admission process to the potential patient/referral source and informs patient of necessary items to bring for hospital stay.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or Professional Counseling required.
  • Prior intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting strongly preferred.
  • Master's Level Licensure through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners in area of specialty preferred.
  • Handle With Care and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Providers required. Training provided at the facility.
  • Level 1 Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
