Position Guide Electronic Test Technician

Position Summary The Electronic Test Technician is responsible for testing and validating new printed circuit boards (PCBs), assembling electronics into enclosures, performing calibrations to meet job specifications, and mounting electronic modules to meters when required. This role also includes diagnosing, repairing, and recalibrating returned or used equipment to restore product functionality. The technician is expected to actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and to apply Lean and 5S principles to maintain an organized, efficient work area. Compensation for this position starts at $16.00 per hour and may vary based on experience and qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Test and verify circuit boards and complete functional checks.
  • Assemble, test, and calibrate Hoffer electronic assemblies and products.
  • Repair and recalibrate returned electronic assemblies; ensure performance meets specification.
  • Complete Repair Work Order and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain Quality and Historical Records (QHR) of work performed.
  • Archive and maintain calibration records in the company computer systems.

Authority Level

  • Reject or correct PCB errors using the established NCP procedure.
  • Withdraw parts from the stockroom as needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Initiate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CPAs) when nonconformances are identified.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or formal training in electronic technology, or equivalent military training.
  • Familiarity with basic electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Comfortable following detailed test procedures and work instructions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose problems with minimal supervision.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic, and commitment to high quality and integrity.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a climate-controlled shop environment with standard electronics assembly and testing equipment.
