Position Overview

The Director of Sales (DOS) is responsible for leading the overall sales strategy and revenue generation efforts for Cambria Hotel Pittsburgh Downtown, an upscale hotel located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Positioned near major corporate headquarters, healthcare and medical institutions, universities, convention venues, sports and entertainment destinations, and cultural attractions, the hotel is ideally suited to capture a diverse mix of corporate, group, government, association, healthcare, higher education, sports, and leisure business.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and partnering closely with Pyramid Global Hospitality's regional sales, marketing, and revenue management leaders, the Director of Sales is responsible for driving top-line revenue performance across all market segments, including corporate, group, transient, catering, business travel, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Sales & Marketing Business Plan that supports revenue objectives, profitability targets, market share growth, and ownership expectations.
  • Lead all sales initiatives with a focus on corporate, healthcare, higher education, government, association, technology, financial services, sports, social, and group market segments.
  • Drive direct sales efforts through proactive prospecting, client engagement, account management, and new business development.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with Choice Hotels Global Sales, key corporate accounts, meeting planners, travel managers, convention partners, universities, healthcare organizations, sports organizations, and local businesses.
  • Identify and secure new revenue opportunities through negotiated corporate accounts, group meetings, association business, government travel, sports-related travel, university demand, and SMERF segments.
  • Strategically manage key accounts and develop long-term partnerships that generate sustainable revenue growth and customer loyalty.
  • Collaborate closely with Revenue Management to optimize pricing strategies, market segmentation, forecasting accuracy, and distribution channel performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the hotel sales team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, guest service excellence, and results.
  • Partner with marketing resources to support digital marketing initiatives, social media engagement, public relations efforts, local partnerships, and promotional campaigns that drive awareness and demand.
  • Represent the hotel within the Pittsburgh business community and actively participate in industry associations, networking events, tourism organizations, and community partnerships.
  • Prepare and present accurate sales forecasts, pace reports, market analyses, and business reviews to ownership and executive leadership.
  • Serve as a key member of the Executive Committee, contributing to overall hotel strategy, operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and associate engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of local market trends, competitive activity, demand generators, and emerging business opportunities throughout the Pittsburgh market.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive hotel sales experience, with at least two (2) years in a Director of Sales, Associate Director of Sales, or senior hotel sales leadership role.
  • Experience within a branded hotel environment preferred, including Choice Hotels, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Wyndham, or comparable hospitality brands.
  • Proven success driving group, corporate, catering, and transient revenue within competitive hotel markets.
  • Experience selling to corporate, healthcare, higher education, government, association, technology, financial services, sports, and social market segments preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in direct selling, strategic account management, prospecting, business development, and revenue generation.
  • Strong understanding of hotel sales strategy, market segmentation, forecasting, revenue optimization, and demand generation.
  • Working knowledge of hospitality marketing strategies, digital advertising, social media marketing, and local market positioning.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts, meeting planners, travel managers, and industry partners.
  • Dynamic, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented leader with a passion for team development, mentorship, and achieving ambitious revenue goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret market data and implement strategic action plans.
  • Proficiency in Delphi, CRM platforms, Microsoft Office applications, and hotel sales systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Pittsburgh market, including major employers, healthcare systems, universities, convention demand, sports and entertainment venues, and regional business drivers is highly preferred.
