Job description

Staff Distribution Designer

Immediate need for a talented Staff Distribution Designer. This is a 12+ months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Kansas City, MO (Onsite). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested. Pay Range: $43 - $47/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
  • Develop and prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other required deliverables.
  • Perform various distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
  • Apply strong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
  • Perform field inspections for overhead and underground electric facilities on public and private utility systems.
  • Prepare and disseminate project communication regarding vegetation management, third-party attachments, right-of-way, and outage planning.
  • Develop client presentations, reports, and visualizations to demonstrate technical results and project status.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
  • Must have skills: Must have a college degree in CAD Design/drafting technology with 7 to 10 years of experience in CAD design & drafting roles.
  • Must have experience supporting design electric distribution/overhead and underground electric facilities, distribution line projects.
  • Strong understanding on applying NESC and utility design standards.
  • Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field and min 7 years related/relevant experience OR Associate Degree and min 8 years related/relevant experience OR High School and min 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience is required.
  • Must have distribution background and experience (must show on resume).
