Salary Range: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour

General Description:
Under the direction of the Manager of Vehicle Maintenance, the LRV Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, overhaul, and repair of Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) and associated equipment. This position ensures the safety, reliability, and functionality of the Purple Line fleet and supports shop operations and testing activities as needed. The technician will also provide feedback on maintenance tasks and assist with software diagnostics and system updates using advanced maintenance tools and programs.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Perform mechanical inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and overhaul of electro-mechanical, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems on LRVs.
- Maintain and repair vehicle maintenance shop equipment and systems.
- Install, service, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment including panels, benches, wiring, and specialized tools.
- Use diagnostic software for LRV troubleshooting, system updates, and performance configurations.
- Prepare work by reviewing blueprints, part lists, and technical manuals.
- Operate auxiliary shop vehicles and equipment commonly found in vehicle maintenance facilities.
- Assist with LRV delivery/unloading operations and move vehicles within the OMF using shop equipment.
- Operate LRVs for testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance maneuvers as required.
- Document work in maintenance software, including work orders and inspection records.
- Support dynamic testing, trial runs, and other shop or yard activities requiring LRV movement.
- Identify equipment defects and take corrective action or escalate issues appropriately.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies following established procedures.
- Maintain personal tools, equipment, and a clean, safe workspace.
- Subject to on-call status 24/7
- Complete all required company training and perform other duties as assigned.
- Cooperatively and efficiently performs related tasks and duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system maintenance and repair.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints, and parts catalogs.
- Skilled in using diagnostic and maintenance software, tools, and test equipment.
- Knowledge of rail vehicle systems and shop safety standards.
- Ability to operate various shop machinery and auxiliary vehicles safely.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to assess and repair defects.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
- Proficient in basic computer applications including email, work order systems, and reporting tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills essential for team collaboration.

Additional/Miscellaneous/Special Requirements:
- Must be clean shaven to properly wear a respirator.
- Acceptable background check upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Acceptable drug screen results upon hire and as regularly required by policy for position.
- Acceptable driving record upon hire which must be maintained throughout employment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school training or certifications preferred.
- Minimum 2โ3 years of industrial maintenance related experience required.
- Prior experience in railway or transportation industry strongly preferred.
- Valid state driverโs license required; Class A CDL preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) programs and policies preferred.
- Extensive overall experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education.
- Willingness and ability to complete all company-required training.
This role requires wearing tight-fitting respiratory protection in compliance with OSHA standards, which means employees must be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.
