Job description

Intelligent Traffic Supply Products, LLC specializes in the production of traffic control equipment and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) within New Jersey. Our products are built and configured to municipal specifications and sold to a rapidly growing customer base that supports critical infrastructure projects.


We are currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team. This position will be responsible for transactional functions related to the purchasing of materials needed to create final products, as well as supporting control of inventory and order processing. You will utilize a combination of computer, communication, and organizational skills to support the manufacturing functions of the company. Key Responsibilities:  

  • Request quotes from vendors; communicate pricing and lead-time information to Sales
  • Set-up and maintain vendor records within QuickBooks and Datashare Files for purchasing, documents processing and audit trails
  • Place Purchase Orders with vendors for approved materials; track statuses and delivery schedules
  • Respond to purchasing-related inquiries, providing accurate information on pricing, availability, order status, and delivery schedules
  • Oversee and facilitate Return Merchandise Process, collaborating with internal staff and vendors to ensure accurate and timely processing
  • Maintain inventory documentation; collaborate with the warehouse to analyze inventory requirements, maintaining appropriate stock levels for production
  • Engage in Vendor Relationship Management; track performance based on pricing, delivery schedules, and product quality to support purchasing recommendations
  • Track deliveries for drop shipped materials; resolve shipment discrepancies, delays, and related issues
  • Review and approve incoming vendor invoices and packing lists for Accounts Payable; resolve discrepancies with vendors and warehouse
  • Participate in annual physical inventory activities, analyze inventory variances, and assist with reconciliation or corrective actions


Successful incumbents may progressively acquire additional responsibilities that support purchasing decisions, such as researching new products, reviewing customers’ material specifications, developing pricing strategies, analyzing vendor performance, and forecasting purchases to meet our sales requirements.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Five years’ successful experience in purchasing or procurement in a construction or manufacturing business.
  • One years’ successful experience in direct sales and customer service in a business-to-business and business-to-government sales model, within a public sector industry.
  • Previous experience with an ERP system

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of construction estimation and quotation protocol, and custom manufacturing operations
  • Working knowledge of materials acquisition.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word applications; Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Proficient knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Expert Knowledge in Excel
  • Excellent math and organization skills

Nature and Scope:

  • Professional level position that requires independent thinking and decision-making
  • Will work in South Plainfield office.
  • May occasionally be required work hours in addition to the regular work schedule.
