Job Summary:

The Purchasing Associate is responsible for the procurement of all products within his/her assigned region while maximizing relationships with vendors and minimizing inventory spend.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Essential Job Functions:

  • Form and maintain strong vendor relations.
  • Identify new suppliers and assist negotiating supply agreements and contracts as needed, including discount structures, volume rebates, shipping, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for cost management/value addition.
  • Forecast procurement needs and reorder points.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with all company regulations and requirements, including documentation.
  • Handle purchasing issues.
  • Be responsible for resource and supply availability and timing.
  • Perform cost analysis on items, quantities and holding costs.
  • Increase ROI thru maintaining quality vendor relationships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Previous purchasing or logistics experience, preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Great written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications with the ability to quickly learn new inventory/purchasing systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and talking on the phone, attending virtual online meetings, and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
