JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Purchasing & Inventory Control for the HVAC Department is responsible for overseeing all procurement and inventory management activities related to HVAC equipment, materials, and supplies. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing strategies, accurate inventory levels, optimized stocking processes, vendor management, contract negotiations, and strong internal controls to support field operations and company objectives. The position requires strong leadership, analytical ability, and expertise in both procurement and inventory systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and supplier performance for HVAC materials and equipment.
  • Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management to ensure reliable and cost-effective procurement.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to forecast purchasing needs and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Establish and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize waste and ensure adequate supply levels.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and pricing fluctuations to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to HVAC procurement.
  • Drive process improvements and implement cost-saving initiatives within the purchasing function.
  • Analyze purchasing data and generate reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Lead and develop a team of purchasing and inventory professionals, fostering a culture of efficiency and accountability.

Fiscal Responsibilities

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or supply chain management, ideally within HVAC or construction materials environments.
Certifications: Relevant procurement or supply chain certifications preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, components, equipment, and industry suppliers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work is performed primarily indoors.
  • Lighting is artificial.
  • Equipment used includes standard office equipment i.e. computer, telephone, fax machine, printer and copier.
  • Physical demands include sitting, repetitive use of hands, grasping, walking, standing, bending over, climbing, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling and light lifting as required to perform job duties.
  • Hours and days are primarily Monday through Friday with some overtime and weekends required.

The base pay range for this position is: $115,000 - $165,000.
