Job description

Summary:
As the Purchasing and Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing company-wide product procurement, multiple vendor sourcing for purchasing, and inventory management. This is a fully on-site position that reports to the CFO and works with all levels of employees, management, and C-suite executives.
Additional information:
  • This position is a full-time position split between our warehouse and main office in Chico, CA.
  • A typical work week is 8 hours daily Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime during busy periods.
  • Warehouse environment is a ventilated, enclosed warehouse without climate controls. Temperatures can be very cold or very hot depending on outdoor weather.
  • All job offers are contingent upon applicants passing a post-offer, pre-employment background check, driving record review, arduous physical, and drug/alcohol screening.

Minimum Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In fulfilling the responsibilities outlined herein, employees may be required to undertake additional tasks related to or naturally associated with their role, or to perform duties of a lower-level nature as needed.
Purchasing:
  • Research and negotiate the best pricing possible on requested items.
  • Research alternative vendors for pricing and supply issues of products.
  • Review purchase requisitions and source products requested in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Create PO's in the company database.
  • Ensure stocked items are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Maintain consistent levels of stock inventory items.
  • Assemble required purchasing documentation for monthly statements and work with Accounts Payable to ensure prompt payment of items.
  • Ensure product ordered matches product received.
  • Communicate with requestor regarding items purchased.
  • Receive inventory items into company database when received.
  • Resolve purchasing related problems between internal departments and/or vendors.

Inventory:
  • Maintain inventory through monthly, quarterly, and annual counts.
  • Receive inventory into the company database and close PO's.
  • Deploy inventory from the database when items are removed from the warehouse.
  • Visually inspect inventory levels daily and place orders as needed.
  • Help ensure Company policies are adhered to for deployment of equipment.
  • Consolidate like products weekly to ensure proper counts remain and to visually monitor inventory levels.
  • Assist warehouse with identifying and organizing returned equipment from the field and prepare for disposal.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Capability of communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the office.
  • 2 years of experience hands on experience in purchasing and/or inventory management.
  • Understanding of inventory or accounting software.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • General accounting practices, business communications, and records management.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency.
  • Attends work on a regular and continuous basis
  • Must be able to manage and direct your own work at a fast pace, independent of supervision.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately and consistently.
  • Consistently provides a positive internal customer service experience.
  • Willingness to be forklift certified.
  • Trailer experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods including extended periods of walking.
  • Use of hands to hold, grip, carry, and physically interact with objects, tools, or controls.
  • Requires use of near vision with or without correction, and an ability to see details at close range (such as using a computer monitor, reading reports, etc.).
  • Must be able to navigate all areas of the office and warehouse.
  • Occasionally may require carrying, lifting, pushing and/or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
