POSITION SUMMARY:  The Paramedic will be able to provide quality care to patients of all ages under the direction of the Medical Director in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Paramedic reports to the charge nurse for shift assignments and direction of shift duties as assigned. The Paramedic will be responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients under the supervision of the Medical Director and Charge Nurse. Under the direction of a health care practitioner, the Paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care/observation, specified treatments and procedures; provision of environmental and personal safety, and effective communication. The Paramedic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and report these clinical, psychosocial, etc., findings to the RN or medical provider and charts appropriately. Works in collaboration with RNs and Medical Providers to provide patient care to adult medical and trauma patients utilizing advanced skills and judgment. Paramedics will be responsible for ECG interpretation, IV therapy, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines of patients in the setting. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience And Licenses/Registrations Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited school of paramedicine.
  • Texas certification as a paramedic, license preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience as a Paramedic in a pre-hospital environment.
  • 1 year experience in a hospital setting as a Paramedic preferred.
  • Current BLS certification within 90 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Current ACLS and PALS within 90 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • PHTLS or equivocal trauma certification within 90 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • HWC within 90 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
