The Facility - Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Center The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is one of the largest health care facilities within the Department of Veterans Affairs. It is one component of the VA Desert Pacific Healthcare Network (VISN22) offering services to Veterans residing in Southern California and Southern Nevada. VAGLAHS consists of two ambulatory care centers, a tertiary care facility and 8 community based outpatient clinics. VAGLAHS serves Veterans residing throughout five counties: Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. There are 1.4 million Veterans in the VAGLAHS service area. VAGLAHS is affiliated with both UCLA School of Medicine and USC School of Medicine, as well as more than 45 colleges, universities and vocational schools in 17 different medical, nursing, paramedical and administrative programs. Position Overview (Duties Include But Are Not Limited To)
  • Documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition,
  • Collaborating with healthcare team members and other interdisciplinary teams to facilitate positive patient care outcomes
  • Providing a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems
  • Accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of the job
  • Demonstrates organizational skills which enable completion of work in a timely manner with demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in a patient-centered program, and
  • Establishes effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications
  • MedSurg or PACU experience (2 years of recent MedSurg experience required)
  • Med/Surg Certification a plus
  • ACLS/BLS required.
  • Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required Graduate of a professional, accredited nursing program
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia
