Job description

We are looking for a Publicist Coordinator to join a top media publication's Publicity team, supporting publicity efforts across a dynamic slate of series and specials. This role works closely with the full Series and Specials team and contributes to the development and execution of strategic publicity campaigns. The position reports directly to the Director of Publicity and will also provide collaborative support to the Editorial PR team on the magazine side.
  • Location: Washington, DC - Hybrid
  • Pay: $33.00-$38.00/hr, based on experience
  • Hours: 10:00 AM-7:00 PM EST
  • Overtime: Subject to approval based on project needs

Responsibilities:
Media Relations
  • Build and maintain relationships with press and regularly pitch stories to secure coverage.
  • Work with traditional media, non-traditional media, and content creators.

Campaign Strategy
  • Provide reactive support for global acquisition inquiries.
  • Contribute to campaign brainstorming and lead or co-lead select publicity campaigns.
  • Support campaign reporting, including slide decks and campaign beat reports.

Press Materials
  • Create and distribute monthly press highlights.
  • Maintain materials on the press site.
  • Partner with production teams to acquire all required campaign materials.

International Collaboration
  • Create and share nomination grids and schedules.
  • Schedule and facilitate interviews.
  • Share press materials and international asset packages for localization.
  • Manage incoming international requests.

Creative Requests
  • Manage departmental creative requests.
  • Traffic materials with the creative team.
  • Coordinate final asset delivery.

Operations
  • Manage operational requests for clips, screeners, and other materials.
  • Manage agency deliverables and provide necessary assets.

Social Media
  • Manage the Publication TV PR social media account.
  • Serve as the liaison between Publicity and the internal Social team.

Screening Requests
  • Manage screening requests for Publication shows and specials, from initial information requests through rights and clearances and final file delivery.

Coverage Tracking
  • Track show coverage and create and distribute PR updates.
  • Monitor and submit daily media clips.

Events
  • Travel to and assist with press and influencer junkets and events.
  • Create and manage event assets and briefing documents.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience in publicity or a related field.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Google Workspace, particularly Google Slides.
  • Willingness to learn new applications and systems on the job.
  • Experience with M360, Mailchimp, and Airtable is a plus; training can be provided.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced media environment.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, agencies, production partners, press, and external stakeholders.
