Job description
Principal Function: The Production Crew is responsible for assisting with set-up, operations and tear down of special events at Conner Prairie including but not limited to History on Tap, Jupiter Flights, Headless Horseman, A Merry Prairie Holiday and other public programs. This is a seasonal role with hours available from late August to early January. This position often works outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and requires physical work.
Daytime hours vary but are typically from 10am-5pm. Evening hours are typically 4pm-11pm. Occasionally hours may fall outside the parameters listed here. Production crew team members may not participate in all duties described below. Program managers will seek to align team members skills, interests and availability with program needs. All qualified, interested parties are encouraged to apply.
Applicants for this position should be 18 years of age or older.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Event set-up and tear down
- Lifting and moving of tables, chairs, props, scenic elements, etc.
- Decorating, repairing, painting props and elements required for events
- Acting as Headless Horseman "jump and scare" characters (Costumes provided)
- Facilitating hands-on activities, demonstrations and guest tours
- Assisting with corn maze operations
- Other duties as assigned; not limited to those within the scope of this position
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: GED/High School Diploma desired. Audio/Video, theater tech, and/or special event planning experience desired. Experience using hand tools (hammers, screw drivers, electric drills) desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to working in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and outdoor weather conditions. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Conner Prairie is generally open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, this position will be required to work beyond these hours and when open for special events.
