What does a remote public health data analyst do?

A remote Public Health Data Analyst collects, processes, and analyzes health-related data to help inform public health policies and programs. They use statistical methods and data visualization tools to identify trends, track disease outbreaks, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. Working remotely, they collaborate with public health teams, government agencies, and research organizations to provide actionable insights for improving community health outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote public health data analyst?

To thrive as a Public Health Data Analyst (Remote), you need a solid background in statistics, epidemiology, and data analysis, usually supported by a relevant degree in public health, biostatistics, or a related field. Familiarity with statistical software (such as R, SAS, or SPSS), data visualization tools (like Tableau or Power BI), and knowledge of public health databases are typically required. Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential for translating complex data into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders. These competencies ensure accurate data-driven decision-making that supports effective public health interventions and policies.

Job description

Job Description: Senior Financial Analyst

Company Overview: Thrive Financial

Thrive Financial is a mission-driven fintech focused on enabling responsible, accessible financing for homeowners doing home improvement projects. We are a fully remote, highly collaborative environment with a commitment to professional growth and shared ownership. The company is pre-Series A and growing rapidly.

Location: Remote, United States

Role Summary

Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst is the crucial operational engine driving our day-to-day finance execution. This role is heavily focused on Treasury and FinOps-specifically merchant disbursements-while serving as a vital support system across Accounting, Data Analytics, and FP&A.

This role is ideal for a proactive, self-directed individual who is comfortable with high ownership, ambiguity, and building scalable systems. You will own the daily execution and maintenance of our financial operations, acting as the "closer" for our internal processes: taking newly developed workflows from the Head of Finance at 80% completion, optimizing the remaining 20%, and running them flawlessly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Treasury & Merchant Disbursements: Take full ownership of daily disbursements, including monitoring fund releases, processing refunds, executing AP/ACH/wires, and managing sweeps and pledges. Manage daily interactions and receivable updates with our bank partners and capital providers.
  • Accounting & Systems Execution: Drive the continuous close process with a strict 5-business-day (5BD) month-end target. Assist with customizations and standardizing data entry templates in Campfire (our ERP), while maintaining rigorous documentation and audit trail management.
  • Reporting & Cross-Functional Support: Execute weekly reporting, including covenant updates, loan purchases, and merchant rebates. Support the Capital Markets and Sales teams with tracking, reporting, and answering ad-hoc questions.
  • Process Optimization: Finalize and optimize financial processes initiated by leadership. Create independent technical workarounds (e.g., macros, advanced spreadsheet modeling) when the Dev team is backlogged to ensure operations do not slow down.
  • Project Management & AI Integration: Create, track, and follow up on Jira tickets to manage ongoing projects. Actively leverage AI tools (like Gemini or Claude) to automate workflows, review, and compare agreements/amendments, assist with notetaking, and continuously "sharpen the sword."
  • Cultural Leadership: Embody the company values (GRIT: Get things done, Respect each other, Intellectual curiosity, Teamwork).

Background & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of top-tier performance in a finance, treasury, or accounting role, consistently ranking among the strongest performers on your team.
  • Must-Have: A solid background in merchant disbursements and FinOps.
  • Experience in consumer lending with a fundamental knowledge of the loan origination process.
  • Experience in an early-stage company (or equivalent environment) where structure was minimal and success required initiative and succeeding without heavy process or support.
  • Advanced ability to build creative, independent technical workarounds (e.g., macros, advanced spreadsheet modeling).
  • Experience with project management tools, specifically Jira.
  • Strong enthusiasm for and experience leveraging LLMs/AI tools (Gemini, Claude) to optimize and automate daily tasks.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with SQL, BI tools (Metabase), and data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau).

Personal Attributes:

  • Energized by Ownership: Comfortable executing day-to-day disbursements while thoughtfully streamlining long-term strategy. Nothing is beneath you, though you are thoughtful about using your time efficiently and impactfully.
  • Growth Mindset: Motivated by both personal and organizational growth.
  • Intellectually Curious: Asks thoughtful questions, seeks context, and enjoys learning. Dedicated to continuous optimization, streamlining, and learning new tech.

Why Join Thrive Financial?

  • High-impact opportunity to execute and optimize processes at an early stage.
  • Clear path to expanded scope and leadership.
  • Mission-driven fintech focused on responsible financing.
  • Fully remote, highly collaborative team culture.

Nitty Gritty

  • Target Start Date: August 2026
  • Compensation: $100,000-$115,000 base salary + 10% bonus + Equity
  • Benefits:
    • Competitive health, dental, and vision insurance.
    • Generous paid time off and flexible holiday schedule.
    • Professional development and growth opportunities.
$100,000 - $115,000 a year
